| Description: | ANNUAL MEETING SUNDAY MARCH 21 * 11 A.M. TO 5 P.M.
Our Annual Meeting wiil return to the lovely courtyard of the Marjorie Stoneman
Douglas Nature Center (a.k.a. Crandon Park N.C.) on the Atlantic Ocean in Crandon
Park on Key Biscayne. Hopefully the weather will be a little more cooperative this year
and we will not have to use the available covered area as much. The Meeting is open
to all paid up members; you can join there. The buffet meal is included as well as the
special music we have planned this year.
The beach at this point is one of the most
beautiful in all of Florida with soft, natural sand and sand dunes plus the nature trails
at the center. Mornings on this beach are etherial and you can come as early as you
like, maybe for a pick up vollyball or kick ball game or just to explore the endless
natural life in the coastal water. Last year our post meeting walk for some of us at
sunset along Crandon beach was a memorable experience.
Food will be served from noon to 2; see Carol Foster’s story Calling All Chefs And
Bakers, below. The Annual Meeting will be from 2 to 3. And at 3 we will have a show
with some of our members and friends including Bob Ingram, Valarie C. Wisecracker,
Joe Virga and Raffa Jo Harris. There will also be an art show at the Center and the
museum will be open. We are most grateful the Center Director Theo Long and her
staff.
There is a $5 parking charge and there will also be an art festival in Key Biscayne so
allow at least a half hour from the toll plaza to the Center. Use the second entrance on
the left into Crandon Park then go to the extreme north end of the parking lot.
Ballots for the election will be sent out two weeks before the Meeting and will have to
be received by U.S. mail by Friday March 19 to be counted at the meeting. No
hand carried absentee ballots will accepted. Anyone who wishes to be listed on the
ballot as a candidate for Director must so advise Karen Goldstein, Club Secretary, by
March 4, 2010
